We took a lot of one-day trips to Island Beach State Park (New Jersey) this year, and the photo I painted this from was taken on a day with bright sun, a stiff breeze and very active surf. The water was incredibly clear, and since it was early, the sun was casting shadows below and in front of the waves...they look like lace!
