  Double Sassy Tulip
Oil on GessoBoard
10 x 10"

This month's Plant Parade Challenge is "sassy tulips," and it just so happened that I was out at Sayen Gardens (in Hamilton Township, NJ), and in addition to lovely azaleas, there we lots of tulips in bloom. So I took lots of photos, and decided on this one to paint. I do seem to favor the double varieties... I love the profusion of petals. Although, that does make them a bit more difficult to paint. And it makes this look almost like a rose, rather than a tulip. But it is a tulip...you can tell by the leaves, if nothing else!

Available through the Design Domaine Gallery in Spring Lake, NJ.
