I wanted to see what happened when I painted a square beach scene...so I chose a photo I took at Belmar Beach or Spring Lake, with a nice diagonal tide line, and I added some diagonal clouds just for compositional interest. I wanted to capture the interesting swirls the water makes between the rocks and the beach. And there were some intensely blue reflections on the water and the wet sand...I do so love beaches!
